Important
Notice:
On Monday, March 10th, the
Global Address List in Outlook will be changed to display all
names in the form “Lastname, Firstname”. This change will make
campus records more uniform and easier to search and find
recipients, including individuals with different spellings of
their first name, or duplicate names. Information Technology
Services will be providing “Outlook 2007 Tips and Tricks”
training on February 27th and 28th which
will address how this change will impact Outlook address
searching.
Will this affect how my name is
displayed on outgoing messages?
Yes, the name displayed in your “From:” address will change
from “Firstname Lastname” to “Lastname, Firstname” on all
outgoing e-mail.
Will this change my e-mail address?
No, your e-mail address will still be the same, only the
name in the From: header will change.
Will I still be able to search by first
name?
Yes, when in the “To:” field you may simply type the first
name and select “Check Names”. You may also use the “Advanced
Find”, in the address book, to search on first name.
What will the change look like in
Outlook?
These images show the example changes in
red. The images are of the
"Address Book" view and what a received message will look like.
