You can now access your
user directory and shared space via SFTP! SFTP is a
secure version of the deprecated FTP protocol. To access files
via SFTP you will need an SFTP client like WinSCP (available for
free
here). Please download and install WinSCP first. Then, continue
with the instructions below.
-
In the WinSCP Login window
enter:

-
If you would like to save
these settings click on the Save... button and
enter a name to save these settings as.
-
Click the Login
button.
-
The first time you use WinSCP,
you will be prompted with a warning message:
"The server's host key was not found". Select Yes to have the host key
saved in cache.
-
You will again be prompted with an
authentication warning. Please read it and click
Continue.

-
If you opted to save your
settings in Step 2, then you may be prompted to
enter your password.
-
Once connected, you will see
your files stored in your Unix home directory.

-
The following steps will help
you navigate to your user directory and shared
departmental files
-
Click on
Remote in the menubar and
select GoTo > Open
Directory/Bookmark...

-
Your user
directory is located at
/home/<Your University Username>/. Type that into Open directory
and click Add.

-

shared space is located
at /shared/<Your University Username>/.
Type that into Open directory
and click Add.

-
Now you can
double-click on either directory

If accessing
your user directory, you will
need to select the visible
