General
Q:
When will the portal be available for employees?
A:
The myUIdaho portal will be accessible by employees (both staff
and faculty) on November 16th, 2009. Initially only
employee information channels will be provided.
Q: When will other groups be able to access the portal?
A:
Students are scheduled to gain access to the portal during
Summer 2010. Other groups (prospective students and
alumni) will be added at a later date.
Q: When the myUIdaho
portal goes live will I still be able to go to VandalWeb and
services like it the same way I used to (i.e. visiting
vandalweb.uidaho.edu)?
A: Yes, our goal is not to interrupt your day
to day processes as they are now.
Q: Will I have to do time entry through the
myUIdaho portal?
A: Yes, for more information please visit the
following payroll services webpage:
http://www.baas.uidaho.edu/default.aspx?pid=116326.
There are seminar time listed on their page, ITS highly
recommends attending one of them.
Q: Can I access myUIdaho
through my mobile device?
A: Yes, but the website does not have mobile

regular monitor.
This means you will have to do some scrolling to navigate the
site.
Content
Related
Q:
Who do I contact if I want to create content
for myUIdaho?
A: We recommend working with your department’s
web content manager and if you are unsure who this is, please
contact the Help Desk and we can make sure you get connected to
the proper resource.
Q:
Is there a way to target specific
individuals controlled by a department?
A: Yes, this is one of the features that really
makes myUIdaho so powerful.
Content is defined by roles (i.e. Employees, Faculty, and
Students etc...).
Q:
How are roles determined?
A: Currently the roles are determined by
information from Banner and it is updated daily.
Q: Can you add files in channels within
myUIdaho?
A: Currently no, however you can link to a
shared location that has the documents.
Q: Is there a Banner Production channel within
the myUIdaho portal?
A: Not currently, this decision has not been
decided due to security concerns.
Q: What if you want to get content that is not
within your role? Is this possible?
A: Yes, there are general channels that are
available to everyone.
Timeout Settings
Q: What are the timeout settings for myUIdaho?
A: After 50 minutes of inactivity you will be
logged out of myUIdaho.
Q: Is there any way to increase this timeout or
bypass it?
A: No, the initial decision was made by the
developers and because of security concerns.
However, we have had requests for this to increase and we
have passed that on to the committee responsible for making
changes. We will let
you know if this timeout changes.
